What to Bring for a Successful Hunt
At the Bretting Texan Ranch all you need is your weapon of choice, a large ice chest and a valid Texas hunting license. We take care of the rest! Not only do we offer top-of-the-line hospitality services, but we also take on complete trophy care. Our all-inclusive services at the ranch include full trophy care like field dressing, caping, and quartering of meat for convenient transportation home.
Here’s a typical gear list for hunting at the Ranch, which ensures you are well-prepared for various types of hunts, including trophy whitetail deer, hog, and exotic game hunts. This list includes essential items for comfort, safety, and effectiveness during your hunting trip:
Clothing and Footwear

Camouflage Clothing: Lightweight for early season, heavier layers for colder months.

Insulated Jacket and Pants: For cold weather hunts.

Snake-proof Hunting Boots: Snakeproof, waterproof, and comfortable for long treks. We highly reccomend at the minimum wearing snake boots.

Hat and Gloves: Camouflage or neutral colors to blend with the environment.

Rifle: Appropriate caliber for the game you are hunting (Larger calibers for big game).

Bow/Crossbow: With appropriate draw weight and arrows.

Handgun: 357 caliber and above

Ammunition/Arrows: Sufficient quantity for the duration of your hunt.

Scope or Sights: Properly zeroed for accuracy. (We can check this when you get to the Ranch. We have a 50-, 100-, and 200-yard range.)

Binoculars: For spotting game from a distance.

Rangefinder: To accurately gauge distance to your target.
